C-Section Scar Therapy

C-section scar therapy is a specialised form of gentle treatment that helps to relieve symptoms that women often experience after caesarean birth. This can include numbness, itching, pulling and restricted movement. Visually they can become thickened, red and raised.

Many of these symptoms are caused by adhesions, which can also contribute to what some mums refer to as an ‘overhang’ and more widespread discomfort in areas such as the lower back and pelvis. Scar techniques are directed at both the scar itself and the surrounding tissues. They can help to prevent adhesion formation, and help to mobilise areas that may already be restricted.

Reconnecting to your body is so important, and these hands-on techniques can really help with that. Sessions are self paced, as understandably it can feel unnerving if you are experiencing tenderness or sensitivity or if you are yet to make contact with your scar.

Treatment can begin as soon as your scar is fully healed, dry, and there is no sign of infection. This is usually around 6-8 weeks.
